Hello Saturday! It’s a great day to be alive and I am grateful I am. I’m grateful for the frigid stillness, for the quiet that is most Saturday mornings but especially this Saturday morning, for not a single remaining ghost of a leaf on the Japanese maple moving, for the stillness finally being broken by a hungry Cardinal diving for some sunflower seeds, for that whispery, blue hour before dawn when I identify things largely from experience because I can’t rely on sight, in the vagueness of the details, it could be anything and I’m grateful when it coalesces into my familiar. I’m grateful for my family and my dear wife, for the best friends in the world, for travel, good books, a second cup of hot coffee, a plan that works, long walks with my best buddy, Grail, and her wonderfully contagious joie de vivre. I’m grateful for the air I breathe and a life that brings me joy and contentment and fun. What is bringing a smile to your face today?
