It’s a gorgeous, warm morning in the Bluegrass and I am grateful to be alive right now. I’m grateful for waking before it was light and spying that dramatic moonset through tree branches clustered with tender, young leaves, for hot coffee, a friendly greeting from a stand-offish cat, squirrels twisting around the tree branches outside my window. I’m grateful for generous neighbors, the smells of spring – freshly trimmed grasses, sweet flowers and blossoms, my wife’s successful first foray out into the world since surgery, crock pots and dishwashers, our mail carrier, the distant, happy sounds of kids playing basketball in the park in the evenings, longer, warmer days, the small glass globe where I put all the issues I’m giving over to the wisdom of my higher power, my mother’s voice on the phone, good work to do and the right tools to do it and all the small and big ways that life shows me that it’s for me. What are you grateful for today?
