Good morning, Tuesday! It’s a rainy, gray beginning to Kentucky’s Primary Election day and I am grateful to be alive and living it. I’m grateful for the best night’s sleep I’ve had in over a week and for waking peacefully. I’m grateful for a return to work and projects and routine and chores, all of the small details of life that knit together to create an ordinarily extraordinary day, for the peace that comes from knowing I live in a safe universe, for a sign in front of a church that reads: “God Allows U Turns,” and the reminder that every new moment is also a new opportunity and the difference between rules and Laws. I’m grateful for the privilege of voting and having influence in how my community, city, state and nation are governed and the exhileration I feel coming out of the ballot box. I’m grateful for my beloved spouse and her big heart, keen intellect and drive to live a life worth living. And I’m grateful for the window in my office that enables me to look out and see the creek swell with rain, the leaves dancing as the pellets of water bounce and glance and roll off of them and a stray cat sheltering himself under the lawn furniture. I’m grateful Life is on my side. What are you grateful for today?
